Great presentations today!!!! What is one of the Web 2.0 tools that you saw today do you feel you could use with your class or personally as a teacher? How would you use it?
I am fascinated by the smart board, and can think of several ways to use it in my art room. However, it is far too expensive for the administrators to purchase one for me.
For my project I'm working on Photo story . I really liked the Photo Peach as well. Photo Peach would be a great way to have photos of the students working and exploring in the clasroom and then show parents at Open House. I also really liked Wordle and Smart boards. Marian
I definately want to use Wordle. I saw it used before and always wanted to know how to do it. The presenters made it look really easy! Thanks! I would use it with student writing to help them present a writing piece in a different venue, and I also would like to use it the same way it was presented as a prediction tool for a new story or content area.
I have used webspiration before for collaborative mapping for essay outlines, but it looks like Thinkature doesn't hav the same lag time and other glitches. Thanks group!
The google apps are things I definitely want to try. I want to work with Sketchup to see if I can incorporate it into my curriculum so students can design their projects more accurately than using paper and pencil drawings.
I would use both the smart board as well as the photo story. I would use the smart board for my morning message, as well as an interactive tool for math and reading strategies. The photo story would be a great way of celebrating great reading skills. I love technology:) I do not feel as sick to my stomach as I did yesterday.
I would like to use Google Earth as an activity with my social studies class. I also want to explore Google Docs in more detail. I will also use Wordle when introducing Catcher in the rye (I even have it done already). I just hope that I remember all this stuff once school starts.
I enjoyed all pieces! Thanks to everyone! I think I will use Wordle the most. I have some ideas for Thinkature that I'm excited about trying out in the classroom too!
I thought the Sketchup tool would be great for showing a 3-d representation of solids of revolution or solids of constant cross section to my AP Calc kids. Its going to take some effort on my part, but i think it will be worth it in the end. They really have a hard time visualizing some of the solids defined analytically. I would also like to see them create some of their own.
I think I'm going to try Wordle as a preassessment tool at the beginning of a unit. I'll have students write as many words related to the upcoming topic as they can and that should give me a sense of the background knowledge they are coming in with.
I might be more inclined to use delicious to organize and store information. I found it to be a useful tool and have contined to tag and add to my delicious account. I also like wikis and blogs and might use these in other professional settings. I like the idea of using a blog or wiki for some professional groups (book club on technolgy), staff communication, and other district committees.
I really don't know what I could use in my classroom since I don't know enough about it yet. But I really want to play around with photostory. That looks like it has great potential. I would also like to play around with Wordle. That looked like great fun.
I spent most of the afternoon on photopeach and even set up and edited the slide show I made. Then, for the first time, I sent it to myself via email and to home and to a friend!!! Wow...am I Web 2.0??? However, I will not use photopeach for digital photo because in i photo there are ways to edit the images. That is something for me to work on tomorrow. I did spend an extensive amount of time with Shannon on Moodle and hope to do the work for my digital class there. I love the independence and self reliance which she has built into her courses. And I was especially impressed with the 5 choices for evaluating comments in the formum which her department made. Her department readily shares information and works together on their curriculum which is something I love.
I will be trying to use Moodle tomorrow to build assignments and forums for my students in digital photo. I also want to use i photo and recreate the same slide show there to see how that works.
I have been using power point for a significant part of the final exam project. I am looking for a different format for that project...perhaps having the power point printed out. ...Anyway, I am casting around to look for a new approach to presenting the information and images required. mjn
I want to use google calendar, even though I didn't actually see it.
